There are several passages in the Course where we are exhorted to “be still” (as in the previous song) with a clear echo of the psalm: “Be still and know I am God.” What isn’t as clear is what the Course means by “be still.” Like everything in the Course, it doesn’t mean what you might think it means. For the Course, “be still” doesn’t mean just to still one’s body per se, but to return one’s mind completely back to God. The generally unstated implication is that this isn’t easy for us, so it will take time, and we are to get there through forgiveness – releasing all of the grievances we’ve held against the world and the “Other,” our brother. We are also asked to question all of our beliefs about the world, and really listen deeply to Jesus’ words, as well as the Holy Spirit within us. Love so much what Julian did with this, especially with the surprise addition of the bass clarinet! Miles would be proud! (I hope : )

“ Let us be still an instant, and forget all things we ever learned, all thoughts we had, and every preconception that we hold of what things mean and what their purpose is. Let us remember not our own ideas of what the world is for. We do not know. Let every image held of everyone be loosened from our minds and swept away.
“Be innocent of judgment, unaware of any thoughts of evil or of good that ever crossed your mind of anyone. Now do you know him not. But you are free to learn of him, and learn of him anew. Now is he born again to you, and you are born again to him, without the past that sentenced him to die, and you with him. Now is he free to live as you are free, because an ancient learning passed away, and left a place for truth to be reborn.” [From the end of Chapter 31, “The Final Vision.”]
